Lou Fatta – Traffic
I work in steel using a variety of welding techniques, mainly oxytocin acetylene for cutting and welding. I cut silhouetted shapes of cars, crows, ravens, songbirds, ants, and city skylines, along with images of vines and weeds and explore the relationships between them. My work involves the automobile and the impact it has had on nature as well as on our individual and collective lives. I work to represent these shapes as archetypes and in reference to totems and stories that work to atone themselves with nature through their own deterioration.
